Armed Forces Covenant

Emersons Green Town Council have signed the Armed Forces Covenant

Emersons Green Town Council were proud to attend the largest mass signing in the UK of the Armed Forces Covenant demonstrating our commitment to supporting serving members of the Armed Forces, their families and veterans. This took place at the South Gloucestershire Armed Forces Day event in Page Park, Staple Hill, on Saturday the 20th June 2026.

The Armed Forces Covenant is not a charitable organisation. It is a promise from the nation to those who serve or who have served, and their families, which says we will do all we can to ensure they are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives.

The Armed Forces Covenant relies on the people, communities, and businesses of the UK to actively support it in order to make a difference.

Commitment

Our Town Council is proud to affirm its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising the dedication and sacrifice of those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, along with their families.

By signing the Covenant, the Council pledges to ensure that members of the Armed Forces community are treated with fairness and respect. This means working to ensure that no one faces disadvantage because of their service and that special consideration is given where appropriate, particularly for those who have given the most, such as the injured and bereaved.

The Armed Forces play a vital role in protecting our nation, and many veterans, reservists, cadets, and military families make valuable contributions to communities across the country. Their skills, resilience, and commitment enrich local life, whether through volunteering, employment, or community engagement.

Supporting the Covenant is about recognising these contributions and demonstrating that our town values those who have dedicated themselves to serving the country. It also strengthens partnerships between the Council, local businesses, community organisations, and the Armed Forces community, helping to create opportunities and support where it is needed most.

The Town Council encourages local organisations and businesses to consider signing the Armed Forces Covenant and joining us in showing appreciation for those who serve. Together, we can help ensure that our community remains welcoming, inclusive, and supportive of all members of the Armed Forces family.

We are honoured to stand alongside our Armed Forces community and reaffirm our commitment to the principles of fairness, respect, and gratitude that the Armed Forces Covenant represents.
